Jayne B. Stearns
I make art.
Within this portfolio, you'll find some of my blog posts and articles that represent an Internet and publishing presence of about 10 years' duration. There are hundreds more, including articles on health, travel, archaeology, aging, science, and education.
Writing is an art form. My canvas is the blank page, my brushes are pens and pencils, and my palette holds the words with which I create a world that compels you to think and feel. I can conjure imagery with courageous words that hurl themselves into the unknown, or fearful words cloaked in apprehension and worry like the feeling in the belly of that new kid on their first day of school. Every sentence creates a universe and every word helps to establish that universe within the heart and mind of the reader.
In addition to the writing offered within this portfolio, I've anonymously written website content for colleges, real estate developers, veterinarians, florists, grocery stores, churches, and non-profit agencies, as well as product descriptions in catalogues and on ecommerce websites.
I've even written product comparisons. Want to find the best turkey fryer for your Thanksgiving dinner, or the best leather dog collar for your Aunt Gertrude's labradoodle? I've written product comparisons on both, and more. I am able to adapt my writing to match any idiosyncratic writing voice.
I am a published poet and award-winning playwright. I'm also a quick and accurate editor.
Peruse these pages and if you see something you like, let me know.
And for now I'll leave you with these words from Gary Halbert:
"The written word is the strongest source of power in the universe."
Below are just a few examples of my work organized by subject. I've written hundreds.
